While the staff tries, the service is uneven. My wife ordered seaweed salad and the veggie shrimp tempura. She had to send the seaweed salad back because the dressing tasted funny. We both had to laugh at the shrimp so called "tempura". The batter was completely different than the veggie tempura, like a fish batter for frying. We think the shrimp may have been frozen like you buy at Safeway. My wife's order came ten minutes before mine which was unusual considering the place wasn't busy. I ordered a sushi platter which was good. The fish variety was quite tasty although the nori was a bit soggy. Two stars only because the sushi was pretty good.

Ate here again tonight. It was our third or fourth time here. I've got to say the decor leaves something to be desired when compared to say chopstix which is down the road but the sushi at Toki was far more delicious. I would call this the best sushi in the area food wise but falls short on some aesthetics. The service has always been good for us and was excellent tonight but it was not busy at all.

I've had sushi here once and it was really delicious! The only reason why the rate is low because this place is pricey compared to others. Special rolls are anywhere from 14-20 dollars and there's only 8 pieces. Seems too much. But it's good. I've also had theirs sesame chicken lunch combo. I loved that and it was for a good price. Would only get food during lunch hours. That's just me though.

I sat at the sushi bar for a late lunch around 2pm on a Wednesday. Super fast service and good un-sweet ice tea. The food was prepared fresh and fast. I had the Oriole and Baltimore rolls. Both excellent. Also had a house salad with the ginger dressing, all fresh iceberg lettuce and no brown spots at all. I will be back!!!

Started an yelp account JUST to review this restaurant! My experience began as soon as I walked in the door, when I was greeted by the sleeping cashier. Yes, she was sound asleep at the counter. The phone began to ring and that didn't wake sleeping beauty from her slumber. I contemplated leaving right then and there, and I wish I had. What finally got the cashiers attention was the yell of what I assume was her father. Only family would allow their staff to sleep on the job and still be employed. The rolls were average at best. Chewy, stale seaweed; dry rice, and everything else was tasteless, subpar ingredients, or so I thought. The stomach pains began within 30mins. My 13 year-old daughter and I spent the next day with severe abdominal pain and ALL the unpleasant things that go along with food poisoning. Please do yourself a favor and visit ANY other place! They only got 1 star because yelp wouldn't allow me to give none or better yet, negative!

The sushi is ok. The customer service is horrible. My husband and I bought two restaurant.com coupons last year. We used one coupon during a Friday night date. No problems. While there the service was pretty poor, but we were all in love and happy and tipsy and stuff and didn't pay it much mind. On our second visit, we handed the waitress our restaurant.com coupon. She explained that the coupons could only be used by a customer once per month: "You were here less than a month ago. I know because I remember you. You cannot use this coupon." Her tone was annoyed and accusatory. But it had been more than a month since we last dined there. 6 weeks to be exact! Was I going to pull up our credit card statement to prove it? No. I have some dignity. But I did tell her that her service and attitude were poor, to which she threw up both hands and blew air between her teeth in an act of seeming exasperation. Rude! We've never been back, and won't (on principle alone).

I see some people say service is slow, I visit here often and never had a problem. Great staff, very Freindly. Eat lunch here alone a lot. Sushi is very good to me but I'll admit I'm no expert on sushi. It's fresh and has good flavor so I'm ok with it. Their chicken dishes I've tried are very good too. I'm since adding one more thing- I cannot believe the review stating how bad the girl treated them. I know them from coming in often enough- they are far from rude. Maybe they have had some issues with staffing not enough, I haven't seen that, but idk if others have- but I can't believe the girl was that rude, they are always very Freindly at the least. I see no reasons for a review negative, and I go there often, and they are Freindly enough I know a little about their lives just from chatting, and I'm not all that outgoing myself so that says a lot

Good sushi, poor service. Always severely understaffed but their menu is quite unique.
I came here after finding them on restaurant.com . We shared a veggie tempura and I had the chirashi, while my bf had udon with a spicy tuna roll. The food was below par, expensive, and disappointing. Even though I got a discount buying a restaurant.com certificate, I still didn't think it was worth it. Oh well... The service was okay though...

I visited it many times, the food here hasn't disappoint me yet. They can work on their store decor but I find their food decent and fresh every time I come here. I LOVE their creamy Avocado and Cucumber Salad, it's a must-order whenever I am here. It's actually better Fuji's, I think. I am a vegetarian so I don't eat a lot of their special rolls and suchi but I love their Yaki-Udon Vegetables. It's a simple but very flavorful to my taste. Its not a extravegant Japanese Restaurant but It's a decent restaurant if you want some homie Japanese fix.

We came here for dinner one night when Fuji Sushi was closed because of a power outage. This place has a banner that says kiss my sushi. You figure with a sign like that, they are making good sushi. I was optimistic - the list of sushi rolls was extensive. I turned out to be disappointed. The sushi was not good at all. Two of us ordered the shrimp tempura roll. I think from that you could logically assume your shrimp would be tempura fried. Wrong! It was regular breadcrumbs style breading you would get at a seafood restaurant. The other roll I ordered was the spicy tuna roll. It was okay - nothing remarkable. My friends ordered the eel rolls and noted that there was hardly any eel. Also, the rolls were not assembled very well. Most of the rice fell out when you picked up the roll. The rolls were not very flavorful, all you could taste was the rice. In summary: Bad: Poorly made rolls, mostly rice, very little fish Good: It had electricity

Pretty good sushi place. Prices are a little more expensive than Fuji Sushi which is better imo. Sushi was tasty. Furniture was a bit old. I had a restuarant.com coupon for this place and my gf loves sushi so we went here.

We came here for lunch one Friday for work. This is the first time I've eaten sushi, and I came in skeptical. The atmosphere was fantastic, the service was great, and most importantly the food was so good, I am now eagerly awaiting my next sushi experience. If you're looking for something or somewhere new to try, give this place a shot. You won't be disappointed.

This was about the worst sushi place I have ever eaten. The service was horrendous at best. The sushi was sub par in taste, the rolls themselves either too huge or ridiculously small. Out of 14 items the 4 of us ordered, 1 we thought was good. Finally when we though ti could get no worse, we realized that none of the sushi makers we wearing gloves while handling a large variety of raw fish....eewww!!!

Went here with the wifey for my birthday with a gift certificate from a family member, was really really happy with the service (it was a little slow that night) really happy with the food. I am a sushi noob, this is true... but it seemed like a great place to try out new things. the menu was great, food was great, decor was whatev. its not the ritz... oh and the pricing was fantastic. the Pure Dusk saki was delicious! if i was local i would eat here on a regular basis. with the mixed reviews on yelp, I would say give it a go. it def worth the try.

I see the negative reviews on here and not sure why. I eat here quite often and have to say this is the better of all the sushi places in the Bel Air area. I have eaten sushi across the country and always enjoy my experience here. The fish is always fresh, the appetizers and salads are great. We have never gone wrong with the service and the staff remembers our names and what we order. A great way to make your customers feel valued!

Passed by this place a number of times and decided to give it a go one night when we were craving sushi. Service was quick and attentive, fish was good quality and tasted fresh, and specialty rolls were interesting. It's not a five star restaurant with impeccable service, but neither are you paying for that here. Give it a try. There is some kind of eel roll with avocado that is crunchy on the outside (not tempura, just crunchy). Try this if you like eel! Delicious.

I saw some of the negative reviews her and I thought I would weigh in - I have eaten here several times recently...yes the décor is lacking - seriously lacking; it could use some charm that's for sure. But I love sushi...good sushi - nigiri or sashimi, so I often do not eat specialty roils so I cannot comment on them. Each time I have eaten her the sushi has been very good - nothing to write home about, but so far it has been the best sushi I have had in Bel Air - I have had no reason to be dissatisfied - however I haven't tried Fuji yet, they will be next. It is a little pricey considering the lack of décor - and it is often not very busy when I have visited so it is not a lively atmosphere - but that could just be the timing of my visits. They have beer and wine which is always a plus and the service for me, has always been very good - but again it has never been very busy when I was here - so... I found the fish to be fresh and firm and very tasty, Hamachi, Maguro, and the White Tuna...one of these days I will try the Ika (Cuttle Fish) - don't recall seeing that anywhere else. For traditional sushi I thought it was pretty good. If you don't mind no frills atmosphere I think you will find the sushi good here.
